Traidcraft
Trade Justice and fair trade are often in the headlines these days. From the injustice of heavily subsidised Italian tomatoes flooding the markets of Senegal under cutting the local farmers and thus forcing them out of business to the slave labour in Ghana, which is often used on the cocoa farms, trade injustice is widespread.
I have been a volunteer fair trader with Traidcraft for more than 20 years, part of my commitment to taking positive action to help those less fortunate than myself. I am a strong supporter of the concept of "Trade rather than Aid", to help those people who most need our assistance to do something practical in resolution of their difficulties. Traidcraft in conjunction with its sister organisation, Traidcraft Exchange aims to do this by ensuring producers, often working through local cooperatives, have an outlet for their goods and a guaranteed fair return for their labours.
As a volunteer fair trader I -
• keep a range of their paper products, gifts and food products at my home.
• will deliver goods to you at a convenient time.
• publish a monthly newsletter, which includes product information and details of forthcoming events.
• give talks to interested groups.
Please do call me on 01494 874511 if you would like to know more, or to receive a copy of my newsletter.
